HS2 Lymm work is due to start in early 2026 and it is expected it will cause disruption in the area for more than 6 years.

Local Cllrs Kath Buckley, Ian Marks and Anna Fradgley met with the HS2 planners to discuss their concerns after hearing the works will involve 30-60 HGV vehicle movements a day for more than six years! WarringtonWorldwide

Proposed Schedule Of Works
  • A56 Lymm Road to M56 start early 2026 – 4 years 9 months.
  • Mill Lane/Bent lane A6144 start mid – 2026  – 6 years 3 months.
  • Warburton A6144 to M60 start late 2026 – 6 years 3 months.
Bridgewater Canal

HS2 is due to cross the Bridgewater Canal at an angle between the Lymm Marina and Lymm Riding School, just a stones throw from The Barn Owl Inn.

Local Roads Will Need To Be Widened

Wet Gate Lane and the roads around the area cannot take the size of the vehicles so they will have to be widened.

They say HGVs will not go through Lymm, but as you can imagine, the increase in traffic will inevitably cause traffic flow and huge potential for hold-ups.
